ephemeral eternity

Sometimes you think bygones are bygones and that the past is nothing but molecules that dissolve in the winter air. But there are times when the past revisits in such a vigorous manner it simply overwrites the present and becomes the only immediate entity in time. These are times when decade-old memories come flashing back the way an express train goes through a limitless temperate forest in the mysterious northern lands. These are times of revelation: the ephemeral is essentially the eternal, without you realizing. It is through remembering that the past can be retrieved. Possessing is ephemeral because any possession, however dearly you once hold, can be lost in an instant. Remembering, on the contrary, is unceasing. It is a resolute eternity.
